El Oro is situated in the south part of the country, in the littoral area or Coast, founded
on the 23 of April of 1884, now has a population of about 716,000 people, as of 2020
statistics. Its temperature varies according to the area and altitude, on the coastal
side it has two distinctive weather patterns, dried in summer and wet in the winter
time. where temperatures vary between 25°C to 35°C. On the mountainous area or
plateau varies from 10°c to 22°C.
El Oro’s capital is Machala with about 420,000 people it’s the largest populated city of
the province, with an altitude of 6 meters over seal level, it’s temperature averages
22°C.
El Oro it’s the 6th largest populated province of Ecuador, it is one of the most
important administrative, economic, financial and commercial centers of Ecuador.
Known as the "banana capital of the world", because the city and the province itself
revolves around the exportation of bananas. But also its commerce revolves and
depends greatly on the export of shrimp, rice, banana, coffee and cacao.
Bolivar port to the south of the province, is the most important port for banana export
for Ecuador. With beaches of singular beauty, areas of historical importance and a
fertile and lavish land, El Oro is one of the ideal provinces to visit while in Ecuador.
